Coming Soon To MTV UK: Geordie Shore

MTV is taking the Jersey Shore across the pond with a new series: Geordie Shore.
The show is set to film in Newcastle where, according to MTV UK's director of television Kerry Taylor, "it is always summer", "no one wears a coat" and "Geordie girls are always out in their miniskirt".
Sounds kinda tame to us!
And if [...]

Next Monday, Illinois' Gov. Pat Quinn will sign a new piece of legislation that will allow same-sex couples to enter into civil unions. The new law will allow gay and lesbian couples to use civil unions as a way to gain several of the same rights as married couples, including sharing a nursing home room to being involved in important end-of-life decisions.

Wonderful! A step in the right direction for sure!

For those of you in the Chicago area, go show your support for the Governor's efforts by attending the signing ceremony at the Chicago Cultural Center. It's open to the public, but you must RSVP with the governor's office.

Sundance WTF: Susan Sarandon Plays Ping Pong Against Lil Jon??

You can say a lot of things about the Sundance Film Festival, but nobody will ever claim that it doesn't have its moments of surrealism. Case in point the photo below, featuring movie star Susan Sarandon playing ping-pong against none other than Grammy winning rap artist Lil Jon. Susan's love for the game has been [...]

With the recent news of a remake in the works, "Lethal Weapon" fans may be excited about the return of cop buddies Riggs and Murtaugh to the big screen, but there's one person who may be hesitant to see it redone: its original star Danny Glover.

Glover received word about the franchise reboot when MTV News caught up with him at the Sundance Film Festival. The actor responded to the news by quoting his "Lethal Weapon" character Murtaugh, by telling us, "I'm too old for this!"

But it wasn't just time passed that Glover worried about the reboots. The star cited his co-star Mel Gibson ("I love Mel. Mel's my friend" he said of the troubled actor) and their director for all four "Lethal Weapon" films, Richard Donner, for the success and "magic" in the original movies.

The actor, who was at Sundance to promote his latest film "The Black Power Mixtape", said of his former director, "There's no way this could have been done, the four "Lethal Weapon" movies, without Richard Donner." Glover went on to say that Donner allowed the actors, "the space for us to...create and gather the kind of relationships... we did in that movie."

Glover, who recalled the making of the films as "a wonderful journey," just seemed to want the original series to be left alone. "I'd like to think that the four we did were still magical and people will still reference the four "Lethal Weapon's", he said, "I like what we've done before in the past."

How to Distribute Your Music Online

The Beatles are well-documented; little is left to note about them. Mention of their name recalls specific imagery and memories for many, and it is very possible that they were the most important group to emerge from the rock and roll movement. In the 1960's, Beatlemania swept multiple nations and captured the attention and consciousness of an entire generation.

Welp … that’s it. The very final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show has aired in parts of the country, including the show’s home city of Chicago, IL. As expected, there were no guests on today’s final episode … it was just Oprah and her audience. Oprah shared her love, thanks and tentative goodbyes to her audience in the studio and watching around the world. Click below to watch video excerpts from Oprah‘s final show … including her final “until we meet again” that closed out the show.

It’s hard to believe that after 25 years, The Oprah Winfrey Show is really over … but it is over … finite … dunzo. Thanks for everything, Oprah. You are much loved and your daily talk show will be missed by many, I’m sure.

Modern Classical Music

Over a meal, I had a friend wax philosophic about this new band "Cut Copy". He said it was this great French band that sounded a lot like Joy Division. Once I got home, I noodled around on Google and saw a video of them performing on the Jimmy Fallon show. These guys were performing some amazing music, but there was this guy wearing a gorilla outfit. I'm not sure what that was about, but he was going nuts on the tom toms. I think it distracted a bit from the song, but it definitely got my attention, so I decided to do some more digging.

Ten Reasons Search Engines Hate Your Website

Since the 1930s and the 1940s, superheroes have provided comic book aficionados with a prototype of the all-American hero, who, via superhuman powers, protects the public from all danger and harm. These same comic book readers are all grown up today, when events occurring around the world make all of us wish for real-life superheroes to come along and save the day, making everything safe again for all those that live here. One of the most popular reasons the appeal of superheroes remains a constant in our society is simply because everyone can identify with them.

Dushku On Torchwood Online

And it's going to be animated!

That's right, Eliza Dushku is going to be starring in an online, animated, Torchwood series penned by Jane Espenson — who has written for Buffy. And Dollhouse. And Battlestar Galactica.

Sounds AWESOME:

Titled Torchwood: Web of Lies, Dushku will be front and center in the short-form story, which will also have voice appearances by Torchwood stars John Barrowman as Capt. Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper.

The series, developed by BBC Worldwide Productions, will consist of 10 three-minute videos, a bit like Starz previous online graphic novel animated series for Spartacus. It’s expected to launch before Torchwood premieres July 8, and new installments will go online after each new Miracle Day episode.

So all you Torchwood fans out there, you better get pumped! Eliza is coming your way!

Have fun, Eliza!

TV Catapulted Early Rockabilly Musicians To Superstardom

For those outside the UK, there exists a long running BBC radio show called Desert Island Discs, on which famous guests are asked to select several articles they would have with them on their fictional, unreachable desert island, including books, sentimental items or pieces of music. It was fronted for many years by its one-time creator, the late Roy Plomley, but the current incarnation is presented by ex-newsreader Kirsty Young.

Robert Pattinson Kristen Stewart Get Smoochy In NYC

Earlier this month there was a report going around that Twilight co-stars and rumored lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart decided to end their relationship by going on a “a break”. Last night, R. Pattz and K. Stew looked to be very happily together as they celebrated the NYC premiere of his new film Water [...]

So … after our very LONG travel day Saturday and the lack of sleep we got upon our very late arrival here in NYC, yesterday turned out to be the laziest of days … and I mean la-zy. After work, I read for a bit … and then passed out. David and his sisters got out to enjoy the weather but, yeah, I was asleep for most of my Sunday. I did rally around dinner time so that we could all hang out for a bit on our first day in the city. David’s sister Eden suggested we go out for ice cream … and cupcakes … and doughnuts. Needless to say, that got me up and out of the house.

Eden took us to a place called Holey Cream which specializes in ice cream sandwiches made out of DOUGHNUTS and ice cream. I mean … DELISH. I stuffed my face on far too many sweets to share with all y’all and still keep my dignity … needless to say, doughnuts, cupcakes and ice cream all come together to make wonderful desserts :)

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I read some more (I’m SO close to finishing the final Hunger Games book) and called it an early night.

Today, David and I are meeting up with some friends for dinner and drinks so … I’m really looking forward to that :) It’s supposed to rain here in in NYC tomorrow but, meh, I don’t mind. We’ve got a couple of Broadway shows on our calendar and I’m seeing PJ Harvey with my dear friend Irene on Wednesday so … it should be a great week :D

Blake And Penn: Back Together In Real Life???

pia-toscano-heartbreaker.jpg

Ouch! This has to sting!

The country was outraged when Pia Toscano was voted off American Idol a few weeks ago, but she has since found comfort in loving arms of Dancing With The Stars stud, Mark Ballas!

A joyous union made in reality show heaven.

But hold on a second - there is someone who isn't too happy that Pia's being swept off her feet by Mark. His name is Carlos Nunez. He's 28, he's a caterer in Queens, and oh yeah, he's been dating Pia for the last four years!

According to sources close to Carlos, Pia has played the "disappearing act" on him and though they have yet to officially break up, Pia does not call him or make any time to be with him. In fact, she made her visit back East last week very brief, just so she could return to El Lay to have dinner with Mark.

How rude! This poor guy has been rooting you and supporting your dreams for four years and THIS is how you treat him! Sad! He deserves much better than that!

Last night David and I hung out with a group of friends last night that included Cara — who we hadn’t hung out with in ages — and Shane & Jordan, who we always make sure to spend time with when we’re in the city. We convened for dinner at The Smith in the East Village and then made our way to Splash Bar for Musical Monday. We had a blast, primarily because we were in such great company.

Cara is my girl who I’ve known for years but we realized that it had been FAR too long since we hung out together here in the city. Last night was our chance to remedy the fact that we hadn’t seen one another in a while and we picked up as if no time had passed. Shane is one of David’s BFFs so we always make sure to spend time with him here in the city … and randomly, we always run into Jordan here in NYC when we happen to be here. I have to tell you, I am a very lucky person. I know the coolest people in the world and I feel so blessed to count them as friends. That Cara and I can pick up after a few years as if no time has passed is just so wonderful. And there are few people in the world that make me as happy as Jordan does. We ate, we drank and were very merry here last night so … it was a very good night.

Tonight, David and I will be seeing Catch Me If You Can on Broadway. Catch Me stars Kerry Butler, who I met when she was starring in Xanadu and LOVED in Rock of Ages. I am very excited to see her in this new show. It’s supposed to be rainy tonight but I don’t think anything can dampen my spirits today. Happy Tuesday, y’all!!

Choosing Oscar Nominees and Winners

I've written these two articles to give you some basic and intermediate tips to correctly color balance your photos during a wedding. As I stated in the other article, a wedding has many light sources and these light sources compete to be the main light in your photos. The problem is, if these light sources have very different color temperatures, your images will have an incorrect white balance.

Why Many Teenagers Struggle to Read Music and What You Can Do About It

Very few bands in the last 20 years have managed to do what the Avett Brothers have done as far as touring, global cult-like following and nearly ubiquitous critical acclaim, and never have a top 40 hit. The Avett Brother's are a folk-rock-punk-bluegrass-roots-avant garde-hard to pin down band hailing from the hills of Concord, North Carolina.
